Hiking in Brisbane

Spring is upon us - and what better way to enjoy some warmer weather than trying out some of Brisbane's local hikes? We’re lucky enough not to need to drive far out of town to enjoy some hikes that will (literally) take your breath away!

No matter if you’re a hiking veteran or just looking for a way to get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air, Brisbane has some great hikes on offer. For a detailed list of all of Brisbane’s hikes within a 30km radius of the city, click here. Can’t choose one from the list? Here are my top picks:

This 1.9km walk has a gentle gradient with some stairs involved. Work up a sweat on the ascent to be rewarded with a panoramic view of Brisbane at the top – always better when you’ve earned it with the hike. Parking at the base is convenient & free. Allow 30min one way, or 1hr return (3.8km).

Only a 30min drive from the city, this hike is for those willing to tackle a gruelling set of stairs to get to the 570m high lookout. You might even see a koala or water dragon on the way up! Allow 1hr for this 1.5km circuit.

For those looking for a longer hike this is one to tick off the list. Located roughly 1hr outside of Brisbane amongst the Sunshine Coast hinterland, this hike will reward you with stunning views of the surrounding Glass House Mountains. You’ll need plenty of water and a snack for this one. Allow 2-3hrs for this 2.9km hike.
